Tributyltin in biota dataset supporting the 2024 Belgian MSFD assessment of D8C1

Concentrations of tributyltin (TBT) were determined in blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) and flounder (Platichthys flesus) from Knokke, Oostende, and Nieuwpoort in the Belgian part of the North Sea (2000–2023). Data were extracted from the IDOD database and analysed by ECOCHEM (ISO 17025:2017) using accredited organotin extraction and GC–MS quantification methods on dry or wet weight basis. Results show a clear post-2008 decline, with mussel concentrations below OSPAR BAC–EAC thresholds, supporting the MSFD Descriptor 8 assessment of contaminant trends.
